I furloughed myself in March, when we first got locked down. I started trading again round about Easter, husband added a database to website to allow me to take orders for home deliveries . Things went mental!  I opened 75 delivery slots across Friday, Saturday and Sunday which were snapped up in minutes, my website crashed as I was receiving so many requests for deliveries.  The response definitely saved my little business, without the deliveries the busy whisk wouldn’t be here.  After lockdown, deliveries slowed down but we are now back trading a markets, so all good.

We’re selling mostly at Farmers Markets.  Stewart Park in Middlesbrough, Thirsk, Hartlepool, Stokesley, Wynyard Hall and Sedgefield.

Of those, there’s only Wynyard Hall and Sedgefield that are in County Durham.  Well, Wynyard Hall falls within Co Durham, but not under Durham CC (but Sedgefield does)

We take pre-orders via our click’n’collect service for markets

We do occasionally arrange days when we’ll go out and deliver, during lockdown they were 3 days a week, now we don’t have any scheduled, but it looks like we have a weekend in November without Farmers Markets (21st and 22nd November) so might end up doing deliveries that weekend.  We will be doing deliveries at Christmas too, and if we end up in lockdown again, we’ll look to resume our delivery service each weekend again.

We keep our customers up to date via social media, but take orders via our website…

We now have over 4000 followers on Facebook @ www.facebook.com/thebusywhisk, and we can also be found on Twitter & Instagram @thebusywhisk

We decided a while ago not to do wholesale, so there aren’t any stockists.  We sell directly to the public only.

I also run the social media for Sedgefield Farmers Market.  It’s the first Sunday of the month.  It’s on the green in the middle of Sedgefield.  It’s a lovely location, if you want any details, I’d be delighted to share
